This is a one-page AI Acceptable Use Policy designed for companies that don’t have one yet and need one now. It uses a three-tier “traffic light” system that employees can understand without a legal degree.

Tier 1 (Green Light) covers low-risk AI uses that don’t involve confidential data or client-facing outputs — brainstorming, summarizing public information, grammar checking, internal research. Tier 2 (Yellow Light) covers medium-risk uses that require human review before output is used — drafting customer-facing content, analyzing internal data, creating presentations for external audiences. Tier 3 (Red Light) covers high-risk uses that require explicit legal sign-off — anything involving PII, regulated data, employment decisions, financial analysis for external reporting, or client-facing legal advice.

Every section has bracketed placeholder text like [Company Name] and [List specific tools]. The template is designed to be completed in under an hour. When we polled the IHC community in Q4 2025, 70% of respondents said their company didn’t have an AI policy. This template exists because a one-page policy adopted today is infinitely more useful than a thirty-page policy stuck in draft.
